Therefore, in order to encourage girls' participation in education, the existing Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) upper primary and secondary girls' homes were expanded/merged to provide residential and school facilities up to XII under the program. As a result, the program now provides access to and quality education for girls from disadvantaged girl groups aged 10-18 seeking education in Grades VI-XII, ST, OBC, minority communities and BPL families to ensure a smooth transition to be guaranteed for girls from primary school
